American Diabetes Association Northern IL Camps

Laughs for Camp!

Posted on: March 22, 2012

Have a laugh for camp with an opportunity to see The Second City “On Tour”. The Young Professionals Board of the A.D.A. is helping to bring this exciting and fun evening of entertainment to the Theatre of Western Springs.  The pre-show reception and the performance of the Second City tour troupe will help benefit our important A.D.A. Camp Programs.

The American Diabetes Association provides summer camp programs to almost 400 campers between the ages of 4-18 in the Northern Illinois area, giving them the opportunity to attend summer camp just like any other kid.  These camps provide a safe and fun environment where campers discover new things about themselves and learn more about their diabetes care, as well as the opportunity to connect with other kids and adults living with diabetes.

The ADA Northern Illinois Area Camps are located in Ingleside, Des Plaines, Glen Ellyn, and Palos Park, IL.  The camps are each a week long, starting on June 18th and continuing until August 10th. The true cost for a child to attend camp is $2066 for residential camp and $712 for day camp. Through the help of over 150 volunteers, fundraising efforts throughout the year and events such as this one, families pay less than half of that amount.  In addition, ADA provides camp scholarships for families in need.

Come out and have a laugh for camp!  Help Show your support for the ADA’s camp program by joining us at the Theatre of Western Springs for The Second City “On Tour” Friday April, 27.  A $35 ticket includes a Wine and Cheese reception at 7:00pm and a Performance by The Second City Touring Company at 8:00pm.
